NURSING IN IRELAND

Employment opportunities for the Nursing profession  in Ireland have never been so good . Public and Private hospitals all over Ireland are recruiting, also Nursing Homes.

There will be huge increased investment in the Health services here during the  coming years.

Many Nurses are being recruited from outside Ireland. Employment experiences in Ireland provide positive opportunities for personal and professional development.

Registration with the Nursing Board – An Bord Altranais is the first step for any interested applicant.

An Bord Altranais is the regulatory body for the Nursing profession in Ireland. In order to work as a Registered Nurse or midwife you will need to apply to An Bord Altranais for entry to the register of Nurses and Midwives as maintained by the Board. Your registration is also needed in order to qualify for a working visa/work authorisation or work permit.

Applications from EU Nurses are usually processed in about 6 weeks. Applications are also  accepted from newly qualified Nursing Graduates. No Formal English exam for EU Applicants, although standard of English would be judged at Interview.

Non EUropean applications are assessed on an individual basis. Non EUropean applicants must also apply to the department of Enterprise Trade and Employment re work authorisation.
